How the formats relate
Everything is converted through decimal odds (d) — the total you get back per 1 staked, stake included.
- Fractional is profit over stake:
d = 1 + a/b. 3/2 means win 3 for every 2 staked. Evens is 1/1. - American (moneyline): positive = profit on 100 staked, negative = stake needed to win 100.
+150 → d = 2.50,−200 → d = 1.50. - Implied probability is the break-even win rate:
100 / d. A bookmaker's prices on every outcome add up to more than 100% — that excess is their margin. - Hong Kong is profit per 1 staked:
d − 1. - Malay equals Hong Kong up to evens; above evens it turns negative:
−1 / (d − 1). - Indonesian is Hong Kong for underdogs (
+) and the American idea scaled to 1 for favourites (−1 / (d − 1)).
Fractional prices snap to the ladder bookmakers actually quote (10/11, 2/3, 13/8 …) when the decimal is within 0.5% of one; otherwise you get the closest fraction with a denominator up to 100.
